How to Set Up XIM Matrix on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One

XIM Matrix works on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. Most setup problems come from the port order, the authentication controller or the game settings. These steps follow XIM's official guide.

What you need

  • An Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One
  • A genuine Xbox Series, One or Elite controller to use as the authentication controller, plus its USB cable, which isn't included
  • Your input devices, such as a mouse and keyboard or a controller
  • XIM MATRIX Manager installed and paired. See our XIM Matrix setup help.

Which port does what

How to connect it

  1. Make sure your Xbox is on.
  2. Connect your input devices to Ports 1 and 2, and the authentication controller to Port 3.
  3. Connect the XIM Matrix to the Xbox with the included USB A to C cable. It shows its rainbow start-up sequence.

Create an Xbox config

  1. In Manager, press the vertical … at the top right and select New Config.
  2. For a shared config, copy it from XIM Config Cloud and select it. Read the creator's notes first. Our config import guide has more detail.
  3. For your own config, press Custom and select the game and platform. Set the output to Controller (Xbox, PS4).
  4. Press New. Creating the config can take up to 30 seconds.

Set your game settings

  • Set in-game aim sensitivity to maximum, then tune your aim in the config.
  • If you use a controller and your game supports controller aim, your game settings are copied to the config instead.
  • Follow any game-specific requirements at xim.tech/settings, and leave other settings at default.

XIM warns that wrong game settings cause poor aim and stop shared configs working properly. You can check the requirements later with the gear icon on Manager's main screen.

How to tell it worked

While connecting, the XIM quickly blinks white twice, over and over. Once connected, it flashes green and Manager shows a green dot.

Using wireless devices?

  • Wireless controller: pair it after the XIM Matrix is connected to the Xbox.
