Cronus Zen Setup Help
This page covers Cronus Zen setup in the same order as the official Collective Minds guide: update the firmware, install Zen Studio, then load scripts. Below that are the problems we fix most often on 1-on-1 calls.
Short on time? With Cronus Zen 1-on-1 Call Help you get on a live screen-share call with us. We do the flashing and setup with you and tune your scripts before the call ends.
What you need
- A Windows 10 or 11 PC with a good internet connection
- Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge for the firmware update
- A working USB data cable
1. Update the Cronus Zen firmware
- Hold the small blue reset button on the Zen and connect it to your PC through the CONSOLE/PC port on the back. Let go once the screen shows Zen Bootloader.
- In Chrome or Edge, open cronus.support/fw (the Collective Minds web update tool) and click Connect.
- Select Cronus ZEN in the pop-up and click Connect. If it is missing, re-seat the cable in the CONSOLE/PC port and check the screen still says Zen Bootloader.
- Click the button for the latest firmware. The update takes under 20 seconds, and the LEDs flash red, green and blue when it is done.
2. Install Zen Studio
- Download Zen Studio for Windows from the Cronus downloads page and run the installer.
- Connect the Zen to your PC through the PROG port this time, not CONSOLE/PC.
- Open Zen Studio. If the firmware is up to date, the Library panel loads.
3. Load a script into a slot
The Zen has memory slots for scripts. In Zen Studio, open the Programmer panel, drag the script into a slot and program the device. Every XIM FORGE script comes with a setup guide that shows the slot layout and the in-game settings to use.
Playing on PS5
Collective Minds lists full native PS5 controller support (rumble, adaptive triggers, touchpad, gyro and USB headset) as needing the Zen LINK Wi-Fi module, and lists the old PS5 bypass as no longer supported. If your controller keeps disconnecting on PS5, this is usually why. We can check your setup on a call.
Quick fixes
- Device Not Connected in Zen Studio: usually the cable. Try a known data cable, then use Device Panel > Find Device.
- Firmware compatibility error: run the firmware update in step 1 again.
- Zen Studio misbehaving after an update: Tools > Reset Zen Studio clears its settings and backups on the PC (not on the Zen).
Problems we fix most on 1-on-1 calls
- Zen not detected, or firmware and flashing problems
- Zen Studio setup and loading scripts into slots
- Aim assist and anti-recoil that do not match your sensitivity
- A new game or patch that broke your scripts
