XIM Matrix Setup Help

XIM Matrix works on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS4 and PC, with a mouse, keyboard, controller or any mix of them. This page walks through setup in the same order as XIM's own guide, then lists the problems we fix most often on 1-on-1 calls.

1. Update the XIM Matrix firmware

You need a Windows 10/11 PC or a Mac on macOS 13 or newer.

1. Go to xim.tech/downloads, choose XIM MATRIX and open the post for the latest release. Download the XIM MATRIX Firmware Flash Tool for your computer (not the Manager app).
2. Unplug the XIM Matrix. Hold its button and plug it into your computer over USB while still holding it. It lights blue when it is in programming mode.
3. Back up the device in the flash tool before you update.
4. Click Update Firmware. The XIM shows yellow while it updates.
5. When it finishes, it restarts and plays its rainbow start-up colours. You are on the new firmware.

2. Install XIM MATRIX Manager

Manager is the app you set everything up in. It runs on Android 9+, iOS 17+ and Windows 10/11, and talks to the XIM over Bluetooth LE.

1. Install it from Google Play, the App Store or xim.tech/downloads.
2. Go through the welcome and licence screens.
3. Let it download the latest game support when it asks.

3. Pair the XIM Matrix with Manager

1. Connect the XIM Matrix to your console or PC first.
2. Do not pair it from your phone's Bluetooth settings. Pairing happens inside Manager.
3. Press the button on the XIM. It flashes cyan while pairing and cyan-green once it is connected. After that, Manager reconnects on its own.
4. Keep Bluetooth switched on. On a PC with built-in Bluetooth, connect its external antenna.

4. Load a config

In Manager, tap the vertical … button, choose Load Config and pick the config from the list. Every XIM FORGE config comes with a setup guide that shows which in-game settings to use with it.
