XIM Matrix on PC: Setup Steps and Common Fixes

On PC, XIM Matrix can output as a standard XInput controller, an Xbox controller or a DualSense. This guide covers controller output, which is for games where you want controller aim. For native mouse aim, use XIM's mouse and keyboard output method instead. These steps follow XIM's official guide.

How to set it up

  1. Connect your input devices to Port 1 or Port 2. You can pair wireless controllers after the XIM is connected to your PC.
  2. With your PC on, connect the XIM Matrix to it. It shows its rainbow start-up sequence.
  3. In XIM MATRIX Manager, press the vertical … at the top right and select New Config.
  4. Select a shared config you copied from XIM Config Cloud, or press Custom and select your game and platform.
  5. For XInput, choose Controller (PC XInput) or Mouse, Keyboard, Controller. For Xbox or DualSense, choose Controller (Xbox, PS, PC).
  6. Press New. Creating the config can take up to 30 seconds.
  7. Set your game's required settings.

The Mouse, Keyboard, Controller option doesn't support authentication controllers. Toggle Navigate Mode to use your mouse and keyboard on the desktop.

Set your game settings

Set in-game sensitivity to maximum, then adjust your aim in the config. If you use a controller and your game supports it, you can tune aim in the game and those settings are copied to the config. Check xim.tech/settings for game-specific requirements and leave everything else at default.

How to tell it worked

While connecting, the XIM quickly blinks white twice, over and over. Once connected, it flashes green and Manager shows a green dot.

XIM Matrix won't connect to your PC

  • Try another cable. It could be faulty, and it can't be a power-only cable.
  • Check for conflicting tools. If the XIM is outputting as a controller, uninstall or disable controller emulation tools such as Steam Input or DS4Windows.

Manager keeps disconnecting

If you use your PC's built-in Bluetooth, make sure its external wireless antenna is connected.

Firmware update fails on PC

Try these in order:

  1. Reboot your PC.
  2. Try a different USB port.
  3. Try a different USB cable.
  4. Disable any additional antivirus software, which may wrongly block the XIM.
  5. Boot into safe mode.
  6. Try a different PC.
