How to Update XIM Matrix Firmware (Step by Step)

New XIM Matrix firmware adds game support and fixes, so update before you load new configs. It takes a few minutes with XIM's own tool. These steps follow the official XIM guide.

What you need

  • A Windows 10/11 (64-bit) PC or a Mac on macOS 13 or newer
  • Your XIM Matrix and a USB connection to the computer

Step 1: Download the flash tool

Go to xim.tech/downloads, select XIM MATRIX and open the community forum post for the latest release. In that post, click the link for the firmware tool, not the Manager app. The date code in the name is year, month, day, so you can tell which release is newest.

Step 2: Put the XIM in programming mode

  1. Unplug the XIM Matrix.
  2. Press and hold its button.
  3. While still holding it, plug the XIM into your computer over USB.
  4. The XIM lights blue. That means it is in firmware programming mode.

Step 3: Back up, then update

  1. Run the flash tool and back up your XIM Matrix first. XIM recommends this.
  2. Click Update Firmware. The XIM turns yellow and the tool shows progress.
  3. When it finishes, the XIM restarts and plays the normal rainbow start-up sequence. You are done.

After the update

Open XIM MATRIX Manager and let it download the latest game support if it asks. Then reload your config: tap the vertical … button, choose Load Config and pick it from the list.

If it does not work

  • No blue light: unplug, hold the button first, then plug in. The order matters.
  • Tool does not see the XIM: try another USB port or cable.
  • Aim feels different after updating: your config may need retuning for the new firmware or a game patch.
