XIM Matrix Lights Explained: What Every Color Means
Your XIM Matrix uses its light to tell you what it's doing, and when something's wrong. Here's what each color and blinking pattern means, and what to do about it.

Normal lights
| Light | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Blue | Firmware programming mode. You held the button while plugging it into your computer. |
| Yellow (steady, during an update) | A firmware update is in progress. Don't unplug it. |
| Rainbow | Normal start-up, for example right after a firmware update finishes. |
| Flashing cyan | Pairing with the XIM MATRIX Manager app. |
| Cyan-green | Connected to Manager. |
Warning lights and how to fix them
Rapid purple blinking
Meaning: timing errors that can hurt performance.
Fix: check for loose USB connections, faulty cables, USB hubs or other hardware in the chain.
Repeated yellow blinking
Meaning: the XIM lost communication with its authentication controller.
Fix: check that controller's USB connection, especially if it happened when you picked the controller up. Fix the connection, then restart the XIM Matrix. On Xbox, the authentication controller goes in Port 3.
Repeated red and yellow blinking
Meaning: a power fault. One or more USB devices are drawing too much power, so the ports were shut down to prevent damage.
Fix: fully charge rechargeable devices before connecting them. Keyboards and other peripherals with lots of LEDs can also cause this.
Repeated red, green and blue blinking at startup
Meaning: one or more configs are corrupted. This happens if power was lost while the XIM was saving, or if a backup from older firmware was restored.
Fix: the configs can't be recovered. Factory reset the XIM Matrix using the firmware flash tool, then load your configs again.
Solid white
Meaning: the device crashed and isn't responding. This is rare.
Fix: contact XIM support. The device stores debug information that helps them diagnose it.
Repeated yellow, cyan and purple blinking at startup
Meaning: the startup self-check found a hardware failure. This is extremely rare.
Fix: contact XIM support.
No blue light when updating?
The order matters: unplug the XIM, hold its button, then plug it in while still holding. If the flash tool still doesn't see it, try another USB port or cable. Full steps are in our XIM Matrix firmware update guide.
